Where to go on your next holiday: Relax on a beach

This is the first in a series identifying some of the best locations you should consider for your next holiday based on your interests and how long you have – a long weekend, 1 week or 2+ weeks*. I have been to most of the locations I’ll be highlighting but not all of them – those I haven’t visited I have researched extensively as potential destinations for the future. I’ll be covering the following types of holiday over the next few weeks, so if one isn’t your style look out for the others:

  • Relax on a beach
  • Explore a new city
  • Classic backpacking
  • New adventure
  • Mix of everything

Without further ado, here are my top picks if you need some chill time among the sand and sea.

  • Gower, Wales
  • Côte d’Azur, France
  • Amalfi Coast, Italy
  • Puerto Rico, USA
  • Bali, Indonesia

It’s worth pointing out with the beach locations in particular that just because somewhere has a reputation for being overly touristy, it doesn’t have to be. AirBnB is a great place to look for accommodation among the locals rather than in high-rise hotels, and to truly escape it all hire a car or moped to explore some of the lesser known beaches.

Coming soon is where to go if you want to spend your time hitting the highlights of a new city!
